We Care about Your Diet at Advanced Women’s Care

You don’t need Advanced Women’s Care to tell you how important nutrition is during your pregnancy. In addition to keeping your baby healthy, a balanced diet can minimize some of the unpleasant symptoms of pregnancy, including nausea and constipation. To ensure a healthy pregnancy, your diet and lifestyle should include:

Folic acid

A critical component of pregnancy, folic acid is found in some green vegetables, most berries, nuts, fortified breakfast cereals, as well as in vitamin supplements. We recommend Folic Acid prior to pregnancy through postpartum. Folic acid is most helpful in the 28 weeks after conception but should be continued throughout the pregnancy.

300 extra healthy calories per day

You should keep your intake of caffeine, artificial sweeteners, sweets, and fats low, and eat a mixture of protein, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Maintaining a healthy diet goes a long way towards minimizing the chances of defects or complications during pregnancy. Additionally, be sure to drink plenty of water and other fluids, such as juices and soups.

Regular exercise

If you love going to the gym, you don’t have to stop during your pregnancy. In fact, maintaining a regular exercise schedule is important to the health of both you and the baby. Walking is great exercise and will help you and your baby’s overall health.
